June and July at MMS.

Six weeks of half-day and full-day sessions, open to MMS families and to children from outside the school — often how a family meets us for the first time.

What it is

Not school, and not a camp that happens to be in a school.

Summer at MMS keeps the prepared environment and drops the academic sequence. The classrooms stay open with their materials; the garden is at its most demanding; and the weeks are organized around themes children vote on in May.

Recent themes have included bridges, water, small machines, and the deeply popular fortnight spent building a functioning outdoor kitchen that the Upper Elementary students still maintain.

For families outside MMS

The easiest way to see whether this fits your child.

Roughly two in five summer children do not attend MMS during the year, and a good number of our fall enrollments started with a June week. There is no admissions process for summer and no expectation that it leads anywhere.

Registration opens to MMS families in February and to everyone else in March. Weeks fill in order, and the youngest group fills first.
